Rupi Sood, Founder & Gallery Director
J’aipur Contemporary—the first online art gallery dedicated solely to presenting works by women of Eastern heritage—is the vision of Rupi Sood, a Masters Degree graduate of Contemporary Art from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York City. She is also the Founding Editor of J’aipur Journal, an East-meets-West creative lifestyle magazine, published online and in collectible print editions. Her mission for the gallery is to provide a platform for women artists of the East to showcase and sell their work through curated virtual exhibitions allowing collectors from anywhere in the world to discover exciting, new works by women of Asian, South Asian and Middle Eastern heritage She is inspired by pioneering women artists such as Amrita Sher-Gil (India) and Monir Farmanfamaian (Iran) who have paved the path for today’s female contemporary artists hoping to make their own mark in an art world that is still male-dominated and difficult to navigate. Rupi can be reached by email for further information about the gallery and its programming.
